Frequently Asked Questions!
YES, any manufactured color can be included.
HOW TO REQUEST A COLOR NOT LISTED:
Use the "Custom" option listed in the color dropdown menu under your desired item(s) in the Artisan Shop.
There are no added charges or fees for an unlisted color.
Send your order confirmation number, provided at checkout, to the Stork using our handy Contact Form Include the order information, and specify the color you would like your handcrafted item(s) to be.
An "Attachment" option is available in our Contact Form; if you would prefer to send a picture as a reference for your desired color, it's highly encouraged!
You may also contact the crafter directly by emailing artisan@theyarnstork.com.
NOTE: Though any color can be used during the design phase, it doesn't mean that the color is in stock. Different colors may require an extension in the waiting period (if we don't have that color, we can obtain it, but it may take up to an additional week for the shipment to arrive at The Yarn Stork's stoop). The Yarn Stork does not dye yarn.
Consider four weeks a grace period. Please note that The Yarn Stork is not a mass-production machine; it is a one-person operation that crafts everything by hand. This means it is a time-consuming process (depending on the pattern's difficulty and volume). Every stitch, color transition, and pattern is lovingly crocheted by hand. The more items ordered, the longer the expected wait time will be. Rest assured, your delivery will be beautiful and of outstanding quality!
Every brand and skein of yarn used is baby-friendly. Hypoallergenic, soft, durable, washable, and dryable materials are used, along with organic and nationally recognized brands. To view the complete list, please click here. However, everyone is unique and may react to specific fibers differently (such as cotton, wool, alpaca, etc.). Please order accordingly with your baby's health and safety in mind (if you know they are allergic to wool, consider ordering acrylic instead).
Absolutely!
Note: Please use caution when washing and drying yarn, as high heat, softener, or bleach additives can damage the fibers.
For yarns made of 100% Acrylic (and some mixture of cotton/acrylic blends):
Wash on a cold and delicate cycle.
Use your preferred baby detergent (NO bleach or softener).
Dry on low heat and delicate tumble.
For yarns made of 100% Wool (including Merino), Alpaca, Cotton, Bamboo:
Fill a basin, tub, or empty and clean kitchen sink with cool water.
Add half a cap of your preferred baby detergent to the water (do NOT add softener or bleach).
Soak the material for 10-15 minutes (don't worry if you forget about it, cool water won't harm the fibers).
Carefully pull the material out of its bath and gently squeeze excess water from the fibers (do NOT wring it out, as that will irritate the fibers and possibly damage the stitching).
Lay the material down between a towel, then gently press or massage any excess water from the fibers.
Once done, allow to air dry until you get your desired shape or dryness (you can use hangers, boards, etc. to help shape the yarn as it dries).
Once each project is completed, it will be shipped via UPS or FedEx. Tracking numbers will be sent to the verified email address and/or the phone number provided during checkout. You can also view the directions for each here.
